Cívitas Metropolitano, a stadium dedicated to hosting sports and entertainment events, has been undergoing external landscaping improvements. Efforts have been made for several months to improve the traffic flow at the entrance and exit points of the stadium.
As a result of these efforts, the entire rotary located on Avenida de Arcentales on the M-40 will be completely blocked starting from Monday, November 13th. Surface traffic within the rotary will be impossible for the next few months. However, the lateral rotations surrounding the rotary will still allow traffic and will remain fully operational.
To accommodate the blocked rotary, the Traffic Department has established alternative routes connecting Arcentales Avenue and Coslada. Although the blockage will have an impact on the games held at the stadium in November, December, January, and February, the final duration of the construction depends on weather conditions.
These measures, being fully supported and financed by Atlético Madrid, will greatly improve the movement of vehicles and buses after the matches. After the conclusion of games, concerts, and other large-scale events, the stadium will have two new direct connections with the M-40. Additionally, since April, there has been a new direct exit from Avenida Luis Aragonés, connecting to M-21, M-14, and A-2.
Similarly, residents of the San Blas-Canillejas area will have minimal impact on their neighborhood traffic when events are held at the stadium, thanks to the utilization of this new infrastructure on a daily basis.
For those wondering how to reach the stadium, here are the recommended routes:
